How IP inspires future innovators in the Philippines

April 11, 2025

The Philippines is a fertile ground for innovation, and youth from all over the country are using their ideas to create a sustainable future by realizing the economic potential of their intellectual property (IP) with the support of their schools and the IP Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

The WIPO Academy had the opportunity to speak with Lilia Habacon, Executive Director of the Philippine Science High School System, Preciosa Medina Bautista, IP Club Academic Director at Manila Science High School, and inventors from these institutions who have collectively become WIPO Youth Ambassadors for IP in the Philippines.

Both the Philippine Science High School System and Manila Science High School were created to educate gifted students in science and technology through a different curriculum than that of regular high schools.
