Another attraction in Intramuros. This is the main Catholic church in the country and the residence of the Archbishop of Manila. Its full name is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The cathedral is active, you can see daily services, weddings and baptisms and hear the organ playing. Inside, there are exhibition halls with stands about the construction and history of the cathedral, and in the interior it is interesting to look at the sculptures of saints, skillful carvings and colorful stained glass windows with biblical scenes.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary became the first cathedral in Asia to receive the title of minor basilica as a sign of its historical and spiritual significance. The title is not awarded to every church – there are less than 2,000 minor basilicas worldwide.
